Water Projects

M-U-T has successfully completed various water supply projects in recent years. In 2024, we a €45 million water pipeline project in Colombao, Sri Lanka. Building on this momentum, we are excited to re-enter the water sector with a new project in Indonesia for 2025. This year, we are collaborating with SFC Umwelttechnik to install a drinking water supply for a school at Lake Danaupe, Sulawesi.

Indonesia is the world's largest island nation. More than 280 million people live on over 6,000 inhabited islands. The country faces considerable challenges in terms of water supply. Despite its geographical location and sufficient freshwater resources, water scarcity is widespread. Rural regions, rapidly growing cities, and islands that are severely affected by climate change are particularly hard hit. Our concept aims to improve water supply in a decentralized manner.
For our first pilot project, we will equip a school in Sulawesi. With the help of technology from SFC Umwelttechnik GmbH, we will use flexible ultrafiltration units for the first time. This technology will be used in Indonesian schools for the first time by SFC.
We hope that our project will pave the way for further initiatives aimed at alleviating the water crisis in remote areas, households, schools and the tourism sector, and ensuring clean water for all.

Flexible Water Ultrafilter by SFC

Membraloop™ is a smart, flexible “ready to use” ultrafiltration unit for water and drinking water treatment. This highly innovative, universally applicable ultra water filter works entirely without electrical energy and without the use of chemicals! The contaminated raw water flows into the filter bag and passes through the hollow fibre membranes with an average pore size of just 20 nanometres (0.02 µm). The membrane acts as a physical barrier and reliably removes 99.9999 % of all bacteria, viruses, worm eggs and undissolved solids – valuable minerals are completely retained. During the filtration process, the pollutants are deposited on the outside of the hollow fibres, while the purified water exits inside the membrane and can be used immediately – for hygienically safe and healthy drinking water! Membraloop™ reliably ensures the availability of clean drinking water – anytime and anywhere. The simple handling, extremely low maintenance and easy cleaning make Membraloop™ the ideal solution for all sorts of trips, in remote areas or in the mountains.
